Winter on the Reschen Pass
Snow falls from the sky, casting its soothing spell. Everything becomes still – the landscape and the heart. Guests and locals alike contemplate the natural spectacle that is the cold season here in the Vinschgau valley. And they can’t wait to immerse themselves in the wonderful snowscape, whether on foot or on skis.
Skiing
11 lifts and 65 kilometres of ski pistes: the Reschen pass and the Schöneben-Haideralm ski area are a natural amusement park for skiers and snowboarders. The Watles ski area also deserves a visit… and the ski shuttle departing from Sonnenhof takes you directly to the valley terminal of the Schöneben-Haideralm lift.
On tour:
ski touring and snowshoeing
Always popular, ski touring finds its ideal stage here, in the impressive landscape of the South Tyrolean mountains and valleys. The snowy surroundings of the Sonnenhof holiday apartments are also perfect for explorative snowshoeing tours in contact with nature and away from the happy bustle of the crowded pistes.

Tobogganing fun
Right on your doorstep!
Tobogganing is a winter evergreen that is lots of fun and creates fond memories for the whole family – not to mention the Instagram-worthy natural backdrop! Fun is at your fingertips day and night: in Reschen and on the floodlit toboggan run in the larch forest of St. Valentin, you can toboggan as much as you like until 11 pm. You don’t need to bring your own toboggan, of course: there’s a rental shop here on site.

Nordic delights
The Vinschgau Valley also has a lot to offer cross-country skiers, with no less than 85 km of trails, including around 22 km on the Reschen Pass. Particularly not to be missed is the Three Country Trail to Nauders in Austria, as well as the Palla Bianca track at 1900 m, located in the unspoilt Vallelunga.
Winter by the lake
Imagine skating on a frozen Alpine lake… Here in the Vinschgau valley, you can! In winter, the Haider lake offers a 40-centimetre thick layer of ice for you to perform your figures. Skates can be rented on site. If you prefer to keep your feet on less slippery terrain, there is a wonderful path around the lake that makes for an easy, pleasurable walk. It takes just over an hour and offers enchanting vistas of the lake and the upper Vinschgau valley.
