In the locality of D\u00f6rfl near St. Valentin auf der Haide, a cosy holiday retreat<\/strong> awaits you with four comfortable, tastefully furnished apartments<\/strong>. Sonnenhof is nestled among the rolling meadows and thick larch forests that extend along the lower slopes of Mt. Gro\u00dfhorn at 1,500 metres of altitude. The surrounding area, the Reschen Pass holiday region, is a paradise for families, nature lovers, hikers<\/strong> and winter sports enthusiasts<\/strong>. Children are especially welcome here, where they can share quality time<\/strong> with their parents and play to their heart\u2019s content in our small playground in the garden<\/strong>. St. Valentin auf der Haide<\/h3>

The southernmost village within the Graun municipality, St. Valentin auf der Haide is set against the picturesque backdrop of the Reschen Pass plateau<\/strong>, on the shores of the Haider lake. It is name after the Malser Heide (Mals heath), the largest debris cone in the Alps<\/strong>. The first settlements here date back to Roman times, and both the village and its surroundings are places full of history and with stories to tell.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Take a cruise on the Hubertus, Europe\u2019s highest tourist boat<\/strong>, across the lake to discover the recent history of this lake, brought to international fame by the Netflix series \u201cCuron\u201d<\/strong>. You will have the opportunity to discover how the iconic church tower<\/strong> \u2013 now a popular postcard motif \u2013 came to be half-submerged by the waters. Local traditions and customs<\/span><\/h3>

\u201cSacred Heart Sunday<\/strong>\u201d, which takes place every year at the end of June, is an absolute highlight<\/strong> throughout South Tyrol. Fires in the shape of hearts and crosses are lit on the mountain peaks to commemorate the Tyrolean freedom fighters<\/strong> and the Battle of Bergisel. The Krampus and St. Nicholas processions<\/strong> in December are hugely popular throughout the region, and not just with the children. Here in D\u00f6rfl, the ancient Scheibenschlag<\/strong> tradition is still very much alive. Originally a fertility ritual and a way of driving out winter, this February event involves flinging glowing pine discs from the mountain down into the valley, and is supposed to bring blessings and good luck.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
