The Reschen area is a borderland with unique geographical and cultural features<\/strong> that have contributed significantly to shaping its community and traditions. Typical customs shared throughout South Tyrol are also deeply rooted here. Traditions<\/strong> such as the Scheibenschlagen,<\/strong> the Krampus parades<\/strong> and the Sacred Heart fires<\/strong> are a few examples of this. The iconic tower sunk<\/strong> in Lake Reschen, the history of which is still much felt by the locals, is impressively brought to life in the Alt Graun Museum<\/strong>. Other local attractions worth a visit include Castle Naudersberg<\/strong>, a medieval castle that used to be the seat of the High Court until 1919, Castle F\u00fcrstenburg in the hamlet of Burgeis \u2013 which now hosts the local school of agriculture and forestry \u2013 and Castle Churburg<\/strong>, probably one of the best-preserved castles in South Tyrol, which towers at the entrance to the Matscher valley near Schluderns and is home to the world\u2019s largest private armoury<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The collection at Castle Churburg<\/strong> is not the only cultural attraction in the area: other museums worth a visit include the Alt Graun Museum<\/strong> with its photographic exhibition of the lake damming and a collection of sacral objects, and Reinhold Messner\u2019s MMM Ortles<\/strong> museum in Sulden, situated an hour\u2019s drive from Sonnenhof, which was developed underground and is dedicated to the theme of mountains and ice.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\tIt\u2019s 900 years old, but it doesn\u2019t look it: the Benedictine monastery of Marienberg has been the spiritual and cultural centre of the upper Vinschgau valley for centuries.
